In the field of independent graphics cards, we currently find only two companies, Nvidia and AMD, although the share of the latter is not entirely high. A recent survey by Jon Peddie Research found that Nvidia currently controls up to 78.2 percent of the graphics card market. The remaining 21.8 percent belong to AMD, with the latter taking a large stake from year to year.
Despite Nvidia’s dominance in the field of standalone graphics cards, AMD is still gaining popularity. Compared to the previous quarter, the latter gained a percentage of market share. AMD’s future prospects are still very promising, although Intel will come up with very interesting solutions next year.
The Intel Arc Alchemist graphics card will be in direct competition with the already existing Nvidia and AMD graphics cards. Arc Alchemist is expected to compete with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti as well as AMD’s Radeon RX 6700XT and RX 6600 XT. It is expected to consume between 175 and 225 watts of electrical power when operating at full loads. It is still too early to speculate on prices, but they are expected to be between 250 and 420 euros. However, due to the lack of graphics cards, this price will definitely be much higher.
