Qualcomm surprised participants at the recent Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021 with the official presentation of its best mobile processor to date. Of course we are talking about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile processor which represents the evolution of the Snapdragon 888 processor with the Snapdragon 888.
The first smartphone that came with it was the Motorola Edge X30. This is a smartphone of a higher price range, which will easily cope with the most demanding tasks. In addition to the ultra-powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen1 mobile processor, there is also a 16.9 cm or 6.67 inch diagonal 144 Hz screen. The remaining devices will include eight or 12 GB of system memory and 128 GB or 256 GB of space. But unfortunately, in practice, the novelty does not work very well.
After just four minutes of playing mobile games with the Motorola Edge X30 smartphone, testers have already noticed a sharp drop in frames per second. Presumably, this is due to processor overheating and automatic overclocking. In some cases, mobile game frequency has dropped by 40 percent, much to the surprise of many. It is not yet known if the poor performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor or the ineffective Motorola Edge X30 cooling system is the reason for the performance drop. Hopefully this will be the last, otherwise it will be a serious problem for both Qualcomm and phone makers.
