At Samsung, we were recently pleasantly surprised by the solid-state drive, which is equipped with a PCI Express 5.0 interface. This is a new generation of data interface that will be supported by next generation Intel and AMD processors. Samsung’s new hard drive is based on the computer giant’s console and uses advanced V-NAND TLC memory elements.
Samsung’s first Solid State Drive with the new PCI Express 5.0 bus is named PM1743. The 2.5-inch novelty has proven to be more than excellent in a recent practice test. The hard drive with PCI Express 5.0 data interface has reached 13.7Gbps for sequential data transmission and 6.6Gbps for data recording. In practice, this means that this is by far the fastest solid state drive in the world.
Samsung’s first hard drive with a PCI Express 5.0 data interface is expected to be cheap, so it’s no surprise that the new version will initially target servers. Samsung will release a new solid state drive with PCI Express 5.0 data interface in the first half of 2022. The retail price for new arrivals is not yet known, but it will be far from cheap.
