Basic antivirus protection requires you to have an antivirus installed on your computer, but that will change soon.
A team at the Institute for Research in Computer Science (IRISA) in France has developed a new method for detecting viruses on devices without the need to install any software on the device.
According to Tom’s Hardware, researchers developed a no-software antivirus using the Raspberry Pi microcomputer. With the help of electromagnetic waves detected by the oscilloscope and the H-Field probe, which detects electromagnetic radiation and a hint of knowledge, it can “obtain accurate information about the type and identity of unwanted programs”.
What makes this even more interesting is the fact that with the help of the new technology it does not need any modification to the final device at all. All you have to do is detect the electromagnetic waves emitted by the device. With this virus detection method, you don’t have to worry about your antivirus being hacked, or having to go online to get information about the latest viruses.
Tests showed that this method can detect viruses with an accuracy of 99.82%.
