A good smartphone has become an all-in-one device. Pocket-sized fun chores. For most users, the phone is also the first choice for photography and image processing, so the latest generation of phones has more lenses, powerful sensors and smart algorithms that replace the optics settings. For this, the phone needs a powerful processor.
While only more expensive phones have been able to handle the most demanding tasks so far, this may soon change. MediaTek has announced the arrival of a new generation of Helio processors, which will be intended for affordable mobile phones. While these processors are still made with 12nm technology to this day, they will be made with a more advanced 6nm technology in the future.
The introduction of 6nm technology will make Helio MediaTek processors more powerful and, above all, more energy efficient. Newcomers will be equipped with two powerful Arm Cortex-A76 processors with frequencies above 2 GHz and six more power-efficient Arm Cortex-A55 processor cores. The integrated graphics core Arm Mali G57 MC2 will handle the rendering of graphic content.
The integrated graphics card will be able to display images up to FHD + 1080p with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. In addition, support for image sensors up to 108 megapixels and the ability to capture videos up to QHD 2K at an average frequency of 30 frames per second will be provided. The new MediaTek processor will only support 4G connections, which is typical of all Helio processors. We can expect it in the second half of this year.
