Apple event in March…

Apple could introduce another iPhone SE 3, a new iPad and possibly a new Mac M2. We’ll soon see what March 8th really does for Apple users.

Invitations to Apple’s first event in 2022 arrived on Wednesday, informing the world that the much-anticipated event will take place around March 8, at 10am CET.

Apple always brings out new iPads in March and April, one or more MacBooks (the Airs are often very good!), and they always prepare a surprise or two.

In the 24 hours leading up to the official announcement, the hashtag #AppleEvent appeared on Twitter, as if people were actually trying to make the event happen. We can only imagine how disappointed it would have been if the official announcement of the event had not followed. The experts and analysts were right. Above we can see the colorful call and the words “Peek Performance” and the melody of “Yung Bae” by Yung Bae.

While the multicolored Apple logo is certainly a hint of the new, colorful font for the MacBook Air and iPad Air, the word “Peek” is a possible indication that we might get Apple’s AR glasses project. The latter is otherwise unlikely.

Let’s take a look at what to expect when Tim Cook’s first man steps up on stage on Tuesday.

iPhone SE 3 in iPad Air

What will Apple offer this time? Rumors point to a new iPhone SE, iPhone SE 3.

Analysts and possible information leaks point to a cheaper device of the latest model, priced at $399 / £389 / AU$679. The price could be $300 (£290, AU$510). A renewal that would move it from the iPhone 8 region to the iPhone 13 region seems unlikely.

As a wallet-friendly device, the iPhone SE has remained with 64GB of storage and 128GB (the iPhone 13 starts at 128GB). iPhone SE 3 may abandon the low-cost memory option and expand it to 256 GB. On the other hand, can Apple make the phone cheaper and at the same time increase the basic storage space?

At least, the new iPhone SE 3 should have Apple’s latest A15 Bionic processor and possibly even 5G. The last number makes more sense if you think that not only Apple but also operators want to take everything to a faster and more expensive level of communication.

There is likely an iPad or two in the air. The iPad Air 5 is rumored to appear this quarter. Analysts’ opinions are divided on whether the tablet will switch from LCD screen technology to richer and possibly thinner OLED technology. A 10.9 inch screen may still be warranted. No one expected Apple to hack TrueDepth and Face ID in the iPad Air (but the cracks may be dropped this year).

Apple will, as usual, upgrade the components and keep the design and other key features. Expect an A15 Bionic processor and a 5G option.

Even if Apple’s iPhone SE doesn’t go even higher in terms of memory, the base iPad Air 5 is unlikely to stay at 64GB. The input capacity of these tablets should not be less than 256 GB.

All eyes are on the new MacBook Air

Since Apple traditionally introduces a new MacBook (sometimes several models) in the spring, we can assume we might see a new MacBook Air this time around. However, the main news will not necessarily be the new system, but will power the M2 processor from Apple, which has been talked about for a long time.

However, enthusiasm for Apple’s first-generation M-chip may cast a shadow over what is expected to be a significant system overhaul. The MacBook Air is said to have lost most of its smooth edges and gained a slightly more industrial and square shape which could make it look like the shell cousin of the iPad Air. Other design changes include new colors and even a white keyboard (this one will look bad after a few months, probably).

Nobody is expecting more cores on the M2, but Apple will be improving its system to increase performance somewhere between the M1 Classic line and the M1 Pro line.

AirPods Pro 2

The AirPods Pro are aging pretty well, but they’re ready for an update. The new AirPods Pro 2 could hit the market next week with some great health and fitness features.

Some rumors point to exercise tracking (which means monitoring your heart rate and even body temperature). Others believe that AirPods Pro 2 will replace Bluetooth for some kind of optical transmission (we think this is unlikely).

We may also see a more expensive pair of Airpods Pro Lite, although it’s not clear how these headphones will differ from the AirPods 3.

another thing …

Perhaps the surprise is a brand new Apple TV, perhaps even a long-announced Apple TV receiver that is now almost forgotten?

Apple can still offer its first smart TV in three sizes (42 inches, 50 inches, 65 inches if you have to guess). It will all include the features of an Apple TV streaming box, offer a great 4K LED display (possibly with an 8K option at maximum size) and a free one-year subscription to Apple TV+.

That’s pretty much speculation, so you’ll likely be surprised by a product that combines a HomePod mini with an Apple TV Box: a smart speaker that can voice control all your smart devices, play the latest music through Apple Music, and stream several podcasts.
