The popular Huawei Petal Maps navigation and mapping service has taken advantage of the capabilities of the Huawei P50 Pocket foldable smartphone.
Petal Maps now displays beacons on a small, round screen, even when the phone is folded.
The cooperation between the internal and external auxiliary screen ensures impeccable comfort, no matter how you use the Huawei P50 Pocket foldable smartphone. Easy access to control information via the auxiliary screen adds completeness and convenience to Petal Maps, which is not available on phones with a standard design.
“Petal Maps, with its offline navigation, new user interface and comprehensive features, is a huge success for Huawei, which is reflected in the rapid growth of active users,” He said Dr. Jaime Gonzalo, Vice President of Huawei Mobile Services. “Technology needs to adapt to the user and not the other way around. It is important that Petal Maps take full advantage of the large screen when the device is open, but also continue to guide when the user decides to fold it. Without having to compromise or curtail the service in any way.”
Since its launch in 2020, Petal Maps has clocked 14.5 million hours of navigation services, while powerful features like lane guidance, smart lane recommendations, road conditions and more are already used by more than 35.2 million users in 166 countries.
The additional screen on the back of the Huawei P50 Pocket is ideal for displaying a set of selected information and easy to use for viewing the weather forecast, managing music, checking the calendar and reading notifications. It is also useful for self-portrait shooting using the rear cameras, which take advantage of all their capabilities while focusing on working in low-light conditions.
Petal Maps is installed on all Huawei devices, and is also available in the AppGallery and Play Stores.
