The screen folding mechanism is the most sensitive part of this type of smartphone design, affecting the device’s longevity, appearance, reliability and innovative features. The Huawei P50 Pocket smartphone has all these features.
Huawei P50 Pocket is a foldable smartphone that offers advanced performance at the same time. Namely, Huawei has introduced a unique folding mechanism or a centrally mounted multi-dimensional hinge (Multi-Dimensional Hinge Technology), which rises when the device is opened to create a larger, completely flat screen. The hinge is not only made strong, durable and solid, but also ensures that there are no gaps between the two halves when the device is folded.
Based on the details
The cycle, in which liquid zirconium-based metal was used, contains more than 200 parts. Despite using completely new materials and an intricate design, Huawei has managed to create a hinge that allows you to open the device with one hand, holding it in all positions and folding in exactly the same halves with no gaps between them. How did they do it? We know that the screen at the fold point must be bent along a suitable curve, or else it will explode. The curve can be achieved in two ways. The simplest way is to have the device thicker when folded than at the opposite end and that the two halves do not touch in this part, as this gives a nice and safe bend. The disadvantages of such an approach are in the palm of your hand. Less robust design, less protective screen, and not the prettiest look.
Of course Huawei didn’t manage to avoid dropping the screen, the difference is that everything happens inside the case, not outside. An additional benefit to this is that the hinge provides an inconspicuous crease in the center of the screen. At the same time, the hinge provides just the right amount of friction to open and close the P50 Pocket very easily. With a little bit of skill even with one hand! It feels durable and at the same time allows the upper to remain in almost any position we want it to.
In addition to the superior course design, the Huawei P50 Pocket smartphone features a small round screen that can be used easily to manage music playback, check calendar, take photos or record videos and view notifications. The visually different display looks great under a round set with photographic lenses. Due to the innovative foldable design, the new phone has special algorithms for self-portrait shooting using the rear cameras, which take advantage of all its features while focusing on operating in low-light conditions.
The P50 Pocket is Huawei’s debut, and although we’ve seen three foldable devices so far, they’ve all been in the style of expanding from the size of a regular smartphone to a small tablet. The new “pocket” model closes in half the size, or if viewed from the other side, it opens from a smaller square to a “classic” size.
In addition to the design concept, the software also contributes to the exceptional user experience of the P50 Pocket. The phone is based on the HMS ecosystem, with the AppGallery app store at its heart. This app is stocked better every day with a variety of popular apps ranging from social networking and games to office and banking apps. In addition, users can access the global search engine Petal Search, which provides access to a wider range of services and applications.
Rich hardware ecosystem
The innovative P50 Pocket also joins the P50 Pro, which has an amazing all-round performance. Both are joined by other devices in Huawei’s rich ecosystem. First, there are the mid-range Huawei 9 SE, Huawei 9 and Huawei 8i, followed by the Watch GT 3 smartwatch, the MateView and MateView GT displays, the very beautiful and innovative FreeBuds lipstick and the Huawei Watch GT Runner smartwatch.
