With Google Maps, you can explore the world faster and easier. More than 220 countries and regions on the map with hundreds of millions of cities and businesses. This allows us to navigate via GPS, traffic data, public transportation, and much more. With Google Maps, you’ll know where to get food and drink at all times, and you can explore your local area – no matter where you are.

However, recently Google Maps has become more useful. The computer giant also enabled users to view air quality on a map. Air quality is assessed by measuring pollutant concentrations in the surrounding air. The cleaner the air, the better the quality of life and better our well-being. In addition, clean air reduces the risk of various diseases.

The ability to view air quality is currently limited to US soil, and will soon be available in Europe. The new option is equipped with an AQI (Air Quality) tag and is available for both the Android and iOS mobile app. Google obtains the data through official air quality measurement sites such as EPA (the US Environmental Protection Agency) and PurpleAir.

Air quality is shown to users with a value between 0 and 400+. The lower the number, the better the air quality. As we are used to at Google, using the new service is very easy. All you have to do is click the button at the top right of the screen and select the folder details that show the air quality in the area you are currently in.
