Airbnb has permanently banned parties and events at accommodations on its platform after the temporary measure proved popular among hosts during the pandemic.

At Airbnb, they say the new rule has become “much more than a public health measure” since August 2020, when it was introduced. “This has evolved into a core community policy that supports our hosts and their neighbors,” the San Francisco-based company said.

At the same time, Airbnb has also raised the maximum number of people who can stay in homes. Airbnb said in a statement that the number of customer complaints has decreased by 44% since the measure was imposed. They added that exceptions to the global ban on “private and traditional catering venues” may be introduced in the future.

As mentioned earlier, Airbnb also announced that it will remove the maximum number of people its providers can accommodate at one time. Because of concerns about the spread of Covid-19, it previously introduced a limit of 16 people.

The company said it “owns several types of large homes that can comfortably and safely accommodate more than 16 people – from castles in Europe to vineyards in the United States and large beach villas in the Caribbean.”

By lifting this restriction, we want to allow hosts to make responsible use of space in their homes while complying with our ban on disruptive entertainment.,” they wrote in a press release. The company began restricting parties in 2019. They banned open parties and so-called “chronic party houses,” which were disrupting entire neighborhoods.

During the pandemic, Airbnb has imposed an indefinite ban on parties “in the interest of public health.”

Last year, more than 6,600 guests who broke the rules were removed from the platform. “This new, long-term policy was introduced to promote and support community safety“reported from Airbnb.”In the coming weeks and months, we’ll keep you updated on our efforts to complement our Customer Community Policies,” they added.
