Slovenes continue to increase …

At the end of the first quarter of 2022, there were more mobile network users than in the same period of the previous year. More outgoing calls were made from all mobile networks, but at the same time there was less phone traffic. They sent several SMS and MMS messages.

The number of business subscribers increased more

The number of mobile network users in Slovenia exceeded 2,613,000 at the end of the first quarter of 2022. It increased by 2% year on year. The number of subscribers and prepaid subscribers has increased. The biggest increase was among business customers, which is 5%.

The number of outgoing phone calls from all networks increased

In total, approximately 475 million outgoing calls were detected from Slovenian mobile networks. This is up 1% from the same quarter last year, with outgoing local calls also increasing 1% and higher across all networks. The number of outgoing international calls increased by 12%.

Domestic and international outgoing mobile traffic less

In total, about 23 million hours of outgoing traffic were measured from Slovenian mobile networks, which was 6% lower than in the same period of the previous year. Domestic traffic also decreased by 6%, and international by 5%. In one year, outgoing mobile traffic decreased for both types of users and across all networks.

The growth of SMS and MMS sent among business users is higher than among private users

About 577 million SMS messages were sent, an increase of 7% from the first quarter of 2021. Private users sent 5% more and business users sent 15% more. Almost 29 million MMS messages were also sent, or 4% more. The majority of SMS and MMS messages were sent by private users (78% and 77%).

Mobile broadband data transmission continues to grow significantly

Nearly 71 million gigabytes of data were transmitted over mobile broadband, an increase of 27% over the same period last year. This number does not take into account data transmission via Wi-Fi wireless technology.

Half of users access the Internet via visual access

At the end of the first quarter of 2022, approximately 675,000 broadband connections were used in Slovenia to access the Internet, or 3% more than in the same period the previous year. In particular, the number of connections with optical access increased by 12%, and they now account for half of all broadband connections. The number of cable modem connections is down 2% year over year, and the number of xDSL connections down 10%.
