Two American rappers – Eminem and Snoop Dogg – will perform their joint song “From D 2 the LBC” live at the MTV-sponsored Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Sunday. Bored Monkey Yacht Club (BAYC) holders will be allowed to watch this event live on the “Otherside” Metaverse.
The song contains the artists’ personal non-fungible tokens, who have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to acquire it.
The duo’s song goes live
Famous musicians weren’t always a good tandem. In recent years, Snoop Dogg has said that Eminem should not be considered among the greatest rappers of all time. The latter replied using his song “Zeus” as a weapon:
“The last thing I need is for Snoop to follow me. Dude, dog, you’ve been like a goddamn god to me… well, not really (haha), I had a “dog” back.”
Soon after, Snoop Dogg revealed that he had apologized to Eminem, saying that the competition in their industry is very fierce, which is why there is a lot of tension at times between some of the rappers.
The musicians seemed to have completely buried the hatchet back in June of this year when they released a joint single called “From the D 2 The LBC.” In their semi-animated video, they showed off their NFTs from the popular BAYC group.
In one of his recent tweets, Snoop Dogg told that he and Eminem will perform the live single during the MTV-sponsored Video Music Awards (VMAs) on August 28.

This year the organizers added a new category called “Best Metaverse Performance,” which indicates that virtual reality projects will have an important role in the annual awards in the future.
The VMAs have emerged as one of the best events for music lovers. In 2011, it was watched by nearly 12.4 million viewers live, while interest slowly declined in the following years. In addition to Eminem and Snoop Dogg, other artists on Sunday will be Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Twenty One Pilots.
History of Eminem with cipher
As for Eminem, it is worth noting that the rap legend is no newbie to the cryptocurrency world. In April 2021, the 15-time Grammy Award winner partnered with Nifty Gateway to present her NFT collection called Shady Con.
Marshall Bruce Mathers III (as his real name) said that his love for such sets dates back to his childhood when he was a fan of comic books, baseball cards and games:
“Not much has changed for me as an adult. I’ve been trying to recreate some of these combos from that time in my life, knowing I’m not alone. I wanted to give this drop the same feeling as, ‘Man, I should get exactly that or maybe even the set’ Complete!” It was so fun to come up with ideas from my own passion for collecting.”
Earlier this year, Eminem joined the BAYC club and spent 123.45 ETH for Bored Ape #9055. The collectibles depict a monkey in a gold jacket and hat. At the time of the transaction, the purchase totaled over $460,000.
