Ethereum Eyes $1.8K Before Merger, BTC Steady Above $21,000 (Market Watch)

After the recent volatility, Bitcoin is looking calmer today but is still above $21,000.

Tezos is among the top midfielders, while Ethereum continues to advance towards $1800 ahead of the long-awaited merger.

Bitcoin saw a new weekly high

The primary cryptocurrency had a rough week, dropping to a six-week low in the mid-$18,500 mark. This continued the recent trend of losing a lot of value as it fell below $20,000 in late August.

However, BTC recovered slightly from the local low and recovered $19,000. Even the benchmark interest rate hike by the European Central Bank did not.

Towards the end of the week, the asset began to attack, breaking above $20,000. Friday saw even more impressive gains as Bitcoin jumped above $21,000.

Despite the calm in the past 24 hours, BTC still managed to chart a new two-week high above $21,700. Its market capitalization was over $400 billion, while its dominance over cryptocurrencies is still above 39%.

Ethereum Eyes 1.8 thousand dollars

Most cryptocurrencies have gone through similar fluctuations in recent days but are sitting much quieter now. Ethereum is a prime example, which crashed below $1,500 during the most intense days of the market crash. Now, however, the second largest cryptocurrency is approaching $1800 as a merger is fast approaching.

Cardano, Polygon, and TRON also charted slight daily gains. In contrast, Binance Coin, Ripple, Solana, Polkadot, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and Avalanche appear slightly red from the larger alternatives.

EOS and Tezos added more value in a day than mid-size options. EOS is up 4% to $1.75, while XTZ is trading north at $1.7 after a 5% increase.

Overall, the cumulative market capitalization of all crypto assets has added a few billion more and is now over $1050 trillion.
